Crafting and using toddler travel checklist : Key tips

Creating checklist with toddler on paper

Must have toddler essentials

Of all the items you have in your toddler packing list, there are some of them considered to be essential for your baby or toddler’s need. It may be that specific milk formula or that important bunny plushie that your kid wouldn’t go anywhere without.

Where you’re going to

Your holiday could be in a city in Europe. Or you and your family might be planning a trip to go to a beach on an island. Chances are, baby or toddler items are easily available in the city.

You may decide to bring less snack or food items for a baby as you can get it in a city. Chances are less likely somewhere remote.

Space you have

You can only bring as much luggage space you have. This means that you’re likely going to be doing omissions in your rounds of packing.

How long you’re traveling

If you’re planning for a short travel for the weekend away, it’s definitely easier as you are going to have enough supplies to last throughout.

However, if there is a long vacation planned, you might need to plan ahead things like, how frequent you’d be able to do laundry, or where you’re going to top up snacks for kids and formula milk if needed.

How you are traveling

Mode of transportation is very important as it will determine how you’re carrying all your belongings from place A to place B. If the destination you’re traveling to only has public transportation such a bus, likely big items and luggage would not be the best option.

Flying with a baby or toddler requires more planning as you need direct available items in your diaper bag. You may ask how do I keep my 2 year old entertained on a plane?

That needs further decision making and planning on toys and toddler activities.

Will it be really useful

If you could, you would want to bring almost everything that makes it easy to take care of your baby or toddler while traveling. But there’s just not enough space. Also, your toddler travel checklist would be 10 pages long.

Maybe you can think of an alternative for the things you might leave at home. Maybe rather than bringing your own stroller, you can rent one at your destination.

Will you have enough space for souvenir

You might want to buy back loads of souvenirs for your loved ones. So, you have to plan for luggage space for the journey back home too.

Can it be put into a diaper bag or carry bag

At times you might be staying at a city center and have travel plans to bring your toddler possibly 2 hours ride away on a train someplace and bringing a luggage is not an option.

So, when you’re looking at that item in your toddler packing list, think it will be really useful or just going to collect dust in your hotel room while you’re away.

Do you do themed clothing

Of course it will be super cute to have mom, dad, toddler and baby to be in matchy outfits at an amazing site. Then, you’d definitely want to plan ahead and pack accordingly.

Weather forecast

Checking weather patterns or seasons at your travel destination will be helpful in choosing to include or omit certain clothing items. Or even help you decide on matching clothes to a colorful scenery.

With that, we have covered your checklist for travel and with tips to make it easier for you.

Happy packing!
